Middle Georgia Trout Unlimited - Chapter 435

About Us

The Middle Georgia Chapter of Trout Unlimited was originally chartered in June 2013. The chapter grew out of a group known as the Fall Line Fly Anglers, which existed between 2008 and 2012. Approximately half of that group migrated to Trout Unlimited, with the other half forming a shoal bass fishing club. The purpose of the chapter is to promote the conservation, protection and restoration of the cold water fisheries of North Georgia, support the overarching goals of Trout Unlimited, as well as promote and serve the extensive community of trout fishermen located throughout Middle and South Georgia.

The chapter currently has approximately 400 members. The chapter serves a very large geographic area. While exact numbers are hard to determine, we believe that the chapter serves most of Georgia below the fall line, an area of approximately 34,750 square miles (an area larger than twelve states). This area could be described as flat land, warm water, with distances to trout fishing measured in hours (approx. 4-7 hrs). This results in challenges that many chapters do not face. First, it is difficult for most members to attend the regular meetings. Second, it is difficult to organize volunteer outings to the mountains to support many of the hands-on conservation efforts that other chapters are able to participate in. However, just because we are limited in our ability to function as a cohesive group, it does not mean that we are any less committed as individuals. It does not mean that we as a chapter will not pursue opportunities to improve our ability to function as a group and identify ways that we can serve as both a group and as individuals. That is why this website has been created.

As of June 2026, the website is functional, but has not reached maturity. Over the next few months, we will be refining the message and looking for new ways to increase the level of communication between the chapter and it's members. If you are reading this as a chapter member, we would very much like to hear from you. Share with us your ideas, concerns and questions. This is your chapter. If you are not a chapter member, please consider joining.

In the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November, the chapter meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Pickle Barrel Sports Pub in Milledgeville at 6:00 p.m. In addition to chapter business, these meetings have a focus on fly tying, where members share patterns and tying techniques.

In the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December, the chapter meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Pickle Barrel Sports Pub in Gray at 6:00 p.m.
